About Us

About ICE

The Irish Clinical Embryologists (ICE) association was founded in 1998 and is a professional body for embryologists working in Ireland.  Together they work to provide a better and safer service of assisted reproduction to couples in the North and South of Ireland.

Since the ICE association was founded it has become increasingly influential on standards and regulations set for IVF practice in Ireland.  Members are involved in the Commission on Assisted Human Reproduction (CAHR), the Irish Fertility Society, the Association of Clinical Embryologists, and the Steering Committee set up by the Dept. Health and Children to look into the introduction in Ireland of the EU directive on tissues and cells.  ICE also has representation on the European Assisted Conception Consortium (EACC), which was established to evaluate the implications of the directive on EU member states.
